Autobiography Script

My name is Mary Anna Leamons. I was born in Driftwood, TX. My Major is Early Childhood to 6^th grade-Generalist Certification with all-level special education. I have already accomplished getting my Associates and now am working on getting my Bachelor’s Degree. The person who has influenced me the most in my life is my Papa. Papa encouraged me to get an education. He encouraged me to be successful in life. There were times that I was down and he encouraged me. He never quit believing in me. Three words that I have been told that describe me are music, smile, and fun. I love music and it is an important part of my life. I love to smile and I love to make other people smile through being funny and humorous. I love to have fun in every situation in life. I believe life becomes what you make it out to be. It all depends on your outlook in life. My motivation in life comes from my faith in God. God has blessed me greatly throughout my whole life. My life has not always been easy. I struggled through various trials. God never left my side and was it was my faith in God that got me to where I am today. I struggled knowing what my goals were in life until God lead me into the right pathway. God has provided scholarships that helped me to get through the first two years of my school. Knowing that God had great plans for me encourages me to follow the dream that he put in my heart. I believe that in order to receive what God has to offer to me, I have to meet Him half way. My career aspirations are to become a teacher. My dream is to one day in the future teach deaf children. I want to be a positive influence to the children that I teach. I want to reach out and impact people’s lives.

Reflection 4

I plan on Graduating with my Bachelor’s degree in Education with a minor in Special Ed in May of 2013. I plan on taking 15 hours, five classes, during the fall of 2011, spring of 2012, fall of 2012 and spring of 2013. I will take 6-9 hours during the summer as need arises in order to meet my goal. I know that many of my teachers will help me to achieve this goal. I know that several of my previous teachers have already helped me tremendously in getting started into the field of my choice. One particular teacher who will help me the whole way through is an old time friend who teaches the kids that need the extra help. She motivated me to get into the field of teaching through her passion and love for struggling kids.

I plan on funding my education through continuing working as I have in the past while I go to school. I intend to apply for scholarships through ASU. I will apply for financial aid through a Federal Pell Grant. I will use what I have saved and set aside for my schooling.  I have many friends who have been a great mental support to me as I journey along towards my goal. I know that if I ever got in a bind they would help me to keep moving forward.

The requirements of transferring to the program of my choice is to have grades of C or higher at Angelo State University.

Reflection 3

The chapter that I have chosen to reflect on is Chapter 2: Time. I learned a lot from this chapter on how to save time. I have learned how to organize my time so that I won’t over schedule my week with more than what is possible to do. I learned how to set a realistic goal and how to achieve those goals. I have learned that if I write down my goals, I will be more likely to achieve them. I learned how to set long term goals, mid-term goals and short term goals. I really liked the ABC daily to-do list and plan on using it in order to stay on track with what is the most important to do and do those first before doing the less urgent ones. I plan on utilizing what I have learned in order to become successful. The way that I plan on doing that is by taking the goals that I have set and use a long term planner to set a dead-line for my goals. If I have a dead-line for my goals and then I am more likely to achieve what I am after. This chapter helped me to realize how important it is to not waste time and to try to make the most of my time.

Reflection 2

         I took the VARK questionnaire and discovered that I am a multimodal learner. I am more Kinesthetic and Aural with Read/Write a number below. I also am a visual learner although not as much as the other three. I looked up each of my learning styles and was amazed to see the words describing the ways that I learn. I have always thought of myself as a kinesthetic and a read-write learner. I knew that I was partially an aural and a visual learner. I was not surprised to see what my learning style was but was amazed that the assessment conformed what I already knew. I found information on my different learning styles at http://www.ldpride.net/learningstyles.MI.htm The information that I found on the websight explained why I have a hard time sitting for a very long time and how I get distracted so easily. This helps me to understand the reason and so now I can focus on finding an solution. “Kinesthetic persons learn best through a hands-on approach, actively exploring the physical world around them. They may find it hard to sit still for long periods and may become distracted by their need for activity and exploration.”
         I have always been a hands on person and that comes from being an kinesthetic learner. I have always had to write down everything that I was studying for a test do to the read-write learning style. I always like to read aloud what I am learning so I can put it into my audio memory. I have always thought that if I took every single approach to the different learning styles then I would be sure to remember what I was learning through one of them. Now that I know that I am more kinesthetic and aural I can focus more on using those studying techniques.

Hi I am Mary Leamons,
     I am from Mason, TX originally and moved to Big Spring where I lived five years. Currently I am residing in San Angelo as I am going to ASU to complete my major in Education with a minor in Special Ed. The career of my dreams is to work with children through teaching. I want to help the Deaf and teach the Deaf children. I also want to help any other children who are in stressful situations at home and I want to work with the depressed children. Children need someone to turn to and need someone who can help them when they reach  a difficult time in life.
    I love music and I love learning. School is hard work but it pays off. Education is important and I want to learn to be the best teacher that I can be so I can help others get an better education than I was able to.
    I am enjoying this summer and the chance to learn more through my classes.
